Breath Alert: Fox Run Garlic Fest is this weekend

Don’t tell anyone we play favorites, but this weekend brings what is most likely our favorite food festival in the Finger Lakes; the Fox Run Vineyards 20th Annual Garlic Fest.

Why is it one of our tops? Because the folks at Fox Run do it right. The festival provides the perfect snapshot of how our farmers, chefs and food processors are working to take this one ingredient, elevate it to its best level, and share it with you.

The vendor line up always includes farmers showing off their allium varieties, small scale food producers sampling exciting new tastes of garlic products and chefs giving you new ways to think about those perfumy little cloves.

This year one of the region’s most well-regarded chefs, Tony Gullace of the Max empire in Rochester, will be on hand to demo some garlic recipes, as will another leading Finger Lakes farm-to-table chef, John McNabb of Knapp Vineyard & Restaurant.

So yeah, there’s lots to learn and see and sample at the fest, but the real reason we go? To eat! Check out this Festival Food Menu. Seriously people, 40 Clove Pulled Pork? How could you skip that? Recipe, please!

And of course, Fox Run will pour their delicious and refreshing wines for you after you set your mouth on fire with all that good garlic.
