Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and the only better thing to celebrate with than chocolate is local chocolate, of course! This week, we’re highlighting a different Finger Lakes chocolatier each day. Today, we’re peeking into the two locations of Life’s So Sweet Chocolate and getting to know their creator Darlynne Overbaugh.

Lifes So Sweet Chocolates

The owner and creator of Life’s So Sweet Chocolates, Darlynne Overbaugh, has a life long passion for chocolate stemming from her mother. In 2007, her husband encouraged her to turn that passion into a small business. That dream was realized in Trumansburg in 2008, when Life’s So Sweet opened their first location. Overbaugh began by selling everything handmade and hand packaged, keeping all that love in the chocolate. In 2012, they opened a second location in Ithaca, and talk about a store LifesSweet2that has it all. In addition to decadent, handmade chocolates, they sell anything from dried fruits to chocolate-covered Oreos. This location also features retro candies and a fully functioning 1949 style soda bar serving up Purity ice cream. Yet with all this expansion and extra candy, the love is still in the chocolate.

They handcraft and create over 80 different types of chocolate from lavender white chocolate ganache to dark chocolate-covered blueberry jelly. Not to mention their 16 different varieties of chocolate bark and more than 8 different chocolate-dipped dried fruits. Talk about love. Their chocolates are available for purchase online in boxes, individually and for special occasions. They have a blog where you can read more about the making of chocolate and stay up to date on upcoming events.
