New Hope Mills Buttermilk Pancakes

DSC_0283Ask any person who grew up in the Finger Lakes what they remember about being a kid on Saturday mornings and they’ll probably tell you cartoons, orange juice and New Hope Mills Buttermilk Pancakes.

What started as a small mill in the 1800s by a New York congressman, New Hope Mills is now the reigning champ of breakfast food providers in the region. Their pancake mixes come in multiple varieties including spelt, apple cinnamon, pumpkin spice, vanilla chai and old fashioned buckwheat. Their baking mixes include options for biscuits, buttermilk scones, corn muffins and crepes, making many bleary-eyed parents happy with the simple dump, mix and stir options.

The mixes are made of unbleached flour, leavening agents, spices, whey and other ingredients depending on the type you choose. Many of the products are available certified organic like the sprouted wheat pizza crust and breadstick mix. The company recently released a line of gluten-free products for the Celiac afflicted out there.

The world is moving faster and faster these days but everyone seems to willing to slow down for a plate of good flapjacks and syrup and New Hope Mills mixes make it easy every weekend.
