Atlas Bowl Grand Opening
By Carly Browning
On Wednesday, March 25, downtown T-burg welcomed its newest edition to Main Street: Atlas Bowl. Atlas is a seven-lane bowling alley with incredible food and a whole lot of class. The establishment is the brainchild of local restaurateurs Todd Parlato and Peter Browning, as well as designer Jon Wagner. The grand opening menu, helmed by chef Brittany Loughlin, featured home-fried tater tots with beer cheese (try them with the green chile sauce as well, you won’t regret it), Taco Truck style tacos and build-your-own burgers in classic bar food fashion. But be sure to poke around the menu past that bar food, there may be one or two things that surprise you.
There are plenty of local beers on tap, a full-service bar, friendly faces, and not a single T.V. screen to be found—even the bowl scoring is done by hand. It’s the perfect environment to bowl and hang out without feeling like you need to wash your hands after everything you touch. The building itself, an old abandoned grocery store, gives no hint of its past. It’s been painstakingly renovated for the past year or so and now it shines. Bowling pin beer taps and tables made from original alley material give just enough of the spirit. If you’re not a bowler, there’s still some incredible food that alone makes Atlas worth a visit. There are tables lining a window opposite the lanes that are almost completely free of lane noise. Atlas Bowl is open everyday from 5pm-10pm so be sure to head down so you can take them up on their slogan: Eat. Drink. Bowl.
