Liquid Assets:
Wagner Vineyards
In our May/June issue, our Liquid Assets column focuses on Wagner Vineyards and the ways in which the winery has grown significantly in recent years to become one of our region’s top wineries.
2014 was a very good year for Wagner Vineyards. From dry to sweet, the winery’s Rieslings won several awards and gold medals at regional and international wine competitions. Then, Wine Spectator magazine chose Wagner’s 2012 semi-dry Riesling for its “Top 100 Best Buys” of 2014.
But of all the accolades, the Wagner team was especially proud of the “Best in Class” award garnered by their 2012 single vineyard Caywood East Dry Riesling at the 2014 Finger Lakes AVA Riesling Challenge. In a competition among respected Finger Lakes industry peers and judged by its leading winemakers, the award publicly recognized the results of painstaking, incremental changes Wagner has made over the past 15 years in pursuit of producing some of the best Riesling wines in the region.
