If your favorite locavore has been talking about signing up for a CSA, beat him or her to the punch with a share at one of our region’s small family farms. Your gift will give all growing-season long, with jewel-like produce from fresh garlic and sugar snaps in spring to delicata squash and to-die-for tomatoes and peppers in the fall.

Daily Harvest Farm in Fabius: Annual share for $550, with weekly pick-up in Syracuse.

PoleStar Farm in Trumansburg: 22-week vegetable shares for $462.

Greens and Beans in Penn Yan: Starting at $572 for a whole share (vegetables as well as eggs and mushrooms), with pick-up options in Canandaigua and Rochester.


Local Meat

Surprise a meat lover with a box full of local pastured meats.

Side Hill Farmers in Manlius: $44 will get you 1 pound of stew beef, 1 pound of beef stir-fry meat and 2 pounds of ground beef, packed in beribboned cooler box.

Bedient Farms in Potter: The “Dinner for Two” package, containing 5 pounds of ground beef, 2 rib steaks, 1 T-bone, 1 porterhouse and 1 sirloin is $80; The “Family Feast” package of 20 pounds of ground beef, 4 chuck steaks and 2 chuck roasts, 5 pounds of stew meat, 2 soup bones, and 1 top round roast is $185.

Hazelnut Kitchen meat share: The beloved Trumansburg restaurant’s meat share program is $80 to receive 2 pounds of fresh sausages and 8 ounces of dry cured meat once a month for three months.
