Want to drink a tasty beverage and donate money to a worthy cause? Grab a bottle of Red Tail Ridge Winery’s “Good Karma” wine and do both at the same time: 10% of the profits from Good Karma bottles sold in New York State go to the Foodlink community food resource center, serving 14 counties. The Penn Yan winery partnered with the regional food bank to help eliminate hunger and educate folks on healthy food choices. The organization distributes food to a network of human service agencies, serves meals through its commercial kitchen and offers more than 30 food-related programs. In the 14 other states where Good Karma is sold, funds are redistributed to local food banks.
Good Karma is a widely approachable Riesling with notes of peach, lime zest, honeydew and a touch of spice. The numbers reflect its popularity: Since 2010 Red Tail Ridge has donated more than $30,000. Because Foodlink is able to maximize every dollar by purchasing food in bulk, this donation is equivalent to about 90,000 meals.
“We’re so grateful for the continued support from our friends at Red Tail Ridge,” said Heather Newton, Foodlink’s director of development and community engagement. “The money raised through the sale of Good Karma continues to support a wide array of anti-hunger programs we operate throughout the Finger Lakes region.”
