A letter from our Publisher

Early this March we were getting ready to publish our 41st edition when things all across New York state began to shut down. Businesses where we distribute the magazine closed, as did many of our advertisers who foot most of the bill for producing the magazine. While our advertisers are now struggling to pay their own bills and staff, we know that paying us can’t be a priority. But without advertisers, the future of our little magazine is in jeopardy.

So we, like so many other businesses right now, are scrambling to survive. We have a fully finished issue waiting to go to print – but we can’t do that until we have the funds to pay our writers, photographers, copyeditor, designers, printer, managing editor, rent and postage expenses. So we are asking our community for help.

We’ve done the math, and we need 3,000 new subscribers to keep going. When we hit that number, we will hit PRINT on our next issue. Our goal is to do this within the next four weeks.

We pledge to donate 10% of all new subscription proceeds to Foodlink, Foodbank of Central NY and Foodbank of the Southern Tier so that they can keep doing the very important and high-demand work for our most in need.

So if you’ve ever tried a new wine at our recommendation, or went to a new restaurant, or learned about a local farmer – if you love the Finger Lakes region and the local food and wine, please help us stay alive during this challenging time.

Edible Finger Lakes is the only publication that solely covers the food, farm and beverage scene in our 14-county region. Your contribution will help ensure that we can continue telling stories for a long time to come.
