Christmas is right around the corner! That means ovens are likely being fired up to make Christmas cookies as treats for friends and family—in addition to Old Saint Nick of course! The perfect beverage to enjoy this seasonal sweet with is, of course, milk. That’s why today’s Made in the FLX featured food product is Ithaca Milk.
As its name indicates, Ithaca milk comes from dairies in the Ithaca region and is 100 percent Jersey cow milk. Jersey cows are used because they are a bit smaller and eat less, meaning although they produce less milk, it is of superior quality and has a rich, golden color, according to Ithaca Milk’s website. The farms these cows live on are less than 100 acres and the creamery where the milk is made is within 10 miles of the farms!
However, you can find Ithaca Milk at public markets in a much larger area which includes the Syracuse Regional Market, the Rochester Public Market, and the South Wedge Farmer’s Market in Rochester.
