I have long enjoyed photographing weddings in the Finger Lakes. I love my couples, and the scenery is to die for, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that every wedding photographer asks who is catering the wedding when booking the client. And I all but “eep!” with excitement when my client responds with Ba-Li Cravings in Ithaca as their caterer of choice.
Tal Oron Cohen is the owner of Ba-Li Cravings and her food combines authentic Mediterranean cuisine with true comfort. Taking her Danish and Israeli background and combining flavors of the Middle East, Tal has created a simple, but delicious menu that is suitable for all dietary preferences alike.
The best part? You can enjoy these menu items by placing an order for home delivery or pickup.
For this little photoshoot, Tal brought me a Fattoush Salad, known for its rough-cut vegetables and beautiful bread doused in oil and seasoned with her favorite spice, “Za’atar.” Freshly grated Israeli sheep feta and fresh burrata cheese made this salad nothing short of decadent.
The main course was a turmeric couscous dish with a rich vegetable stew and chicken. Notes of cinnamon and garlic brought warmth to this colorful entree.

Finally, we indulged in her tiramisu and hot Turkish coffee which is known for its cardamom taste.

In the time of COVID, Ba-Li Cravings is booking micro-weddings, elopements, and is taking orders for Friday night dinner pickup. Tal’s warmth and love are apparent in her food. And the experience she brings to the table is not soon forgotten after the meal comes to an end—both of which will keep you coming back for more.
