We’re excited to announce that Amy Weaver Quan has joined Edible Finger Lakes to contribute to our Cider Sessions column at ediblefingerlakes.com. Look for her articles once a month that highlight the region’s dedicated hard cider producers and the celebrated products they create.

Amy Weaver Quan is a nonfiction writing teacher at Ithaca college who instructs her students primarily in writing personal essays, memoirs, and environmental writing. She also specializes in descriptive writing and storytelling. She brings these honed writing skills and a passion for hard ciders produced locally and sustainably in the Finger Lakes.

“I so appreciate what the farmers are doing in this area as they work to not only bring us wonderful cider, but also to practice healthy, diversified, regenerative land management,” Amy said. “The ciders that come out of these beautiful spots are truly world-class, but the people, the animals, the communities are as much the story as the cider.”

Amy is based in Covert. When she’s not teaching or writing, she’s outside with her husband planting food and trying to restore the old orchard on their farmland.
