Brewing in the FLX: Naked Dove Impact IPA Release

We couldn’t wait to do this follow-up on the result for the Impact IPA. As a quick recap, Naked Dove Brewing Company located in Canandaigua drafted a team of 16 strong women from the region’s beer industry to brew a specialty beer for International Women’s Day.

We couldn’t wait to do this follow-up on the result for the Impact IPA. As a quick recap, Naked Dove Brewing Company located in Canandaigua drafted a team of 16 strong women from the region’s beer industry to brew a specialty beer for International Women’s Day. (For full coverage read: International Women’s Day: Naked Dove Brewing Company Impact IPA | Edible Finger Lakes). Now, with brewing completed, Naked Dove will release the beer on Saturday at the Tap Room—both on draught and in cans. Also, available at the release event will be merchandise, including t-shirts, glassware, and posters. A portion of the proceeds from all sales will be donated to the SAFE (Sexual Assault Forensic Exam) Program S.A.F.E.

“The number of people that have reached out with donations for our charity has been overwhelming,” says Naked Dove Manager and Impact Organizer Kim Porter. “It was definitely important to bring awareness to S.A.F.E, but on top of that, there has been an outpouring of ‘Thank You’ notes, and people still plan on donating at Saturday’s event and beyond.”

In addition to the great turn out for the charity, there has been an equally great response to the beer. In fact, it has been so supported that more beer had to be brewed.

“It’s all coming together. And it happened fast. We actually just brewed a third batch because Wegman’s is going to take a large quantity of the three hundred cases that we have already canned up,” Porter continues. “They are 100% behind this project. They love the concept and they love the idea of the charity. We also hope to have the beer poured at as many of the establishments of the participating women as possible.”

The Impact IPA itself turned out juicy but super smooth, with an incredibly clean finish. Just like Kim and the crew had hoped.

“It’s super smooth. It has a little bite to it,” she describes. “That will change a little bit over time in the can as the liquid matures. The Mandarina hops definitely come through—that mandarin orange note. As the beer warms up, those notes become more prominent. There’s some melon and citrus as well.”

Kim added she hopes the orange characteristics will be the perfect complement to a warm spring day.

Go check out Naked Dove this Saturday to cop your exclusive six-pack of the Impact IPA on its release day. The can’s artwork turned out beautiful as well, and if you turn each can the right way, a mural stretches out across the pack. What a fantastic job done by all involved with the project.
