Back by popular demand, one of the best opportunities to educate yourself about the world of Riesling, and how the Finger Lakes wine scene fits in, is happening this weekend in Geneva. Last held in the Finger Lakes in 2019, FLXCursion brings together winemakers, vineyard specialists, wine writers, beverage professionals and Riesling loyalists to learn, taste and connect about this varietal that has long been the signature grape of the Finger Lakes.

On Saturday the 17th, there are some fantastic events for the general public including tasting seminars that will walk your palate through Rieslings made around the world and a food and wine pairing class that will help you match up wine with cheeses and small bites. These seminars are followed up by a region-wide Wine Dinner Extravaganza where diners can eat and drink while listening to experts talk about Finger Lakes winemaking and vineyard management while hearing personal stories and experiences from the winemakers themselves. That evening Linden Street in Geneva will become a celebration of music, dancing and of course wine. There’s even a late night drag show if you’ve still got some energy left.

Sunday the 18th has a Grand Tour happening where guests are taken via bus to various sites that will enlighten about the geology, climate and agriculture of the Finger Lakes, giving attendees an in-depth look at the various factors that influence how wines are made in the Finger Lakes and where those unique flavors are coming from, all while sampling local wines.

The event continues Monday and Tuesday with all day seminars geared towards wine professionals and the wine geeks amongst us, but there are plenty of after-conference food and wine social events to keep the good times going. It’s a special event for the Finger Lakes that you’ll definitely want to experience.

Information about tickets, schedule and logistics can all be found on the FLXCursion site.
